Stopped in during the middle of the afternoon. They weren't busy, but should have been. The Italian beef sandwich was great. Bread actually held the sandwich together. I'd urge you to try them out. Soon, and then often.

Fruit Street Kitchen II is a new favorite! The staff are so friendly and very helpful. Our server gave us her favorites and knew the menu well. We had the pulled pork sandwich and the rib tips. The tips came with a side and a sweet cornbread muffin. My husband went with the collard greens for his side and they were perfect! He usually adds vinegar but these were seasoned perfectly. After a bite of his cornbread, I had to get my own. The meat with sauce was so flavorful and very good bbq flavor. There was a lot of meat on both and the coleslaw on my sandwich added an amazing flavor and light crunch. Our server brought to go boxes and even noticed we hadn’t gotten through our drinks and brought us to go cups and lids without being asked. Everything was amazing and we will be back! I am looking forward to trying the shrimp & grits next. I’ve never had catfish and looking forward to that also. Once word gets out, this place will be hard to get a seat and rightfully so. Sooooo delicious!!!

Random lunch stop for us and the food was fantastic. I had the slaughtered fries, they were loaded and so delicious. My husband had the rib tips and loved them. Even the ketchup was top tier! Great service too, we will be back!

My husband and I went for dinner last night and were not disappointed. We both got the Italian beef and sausage combo, I got mac and cheese while he got fried cabbage. Everything was tasty and presented lovely. My sandwich was messy so I moved it to a plate from it's basket and my husband plowed through the mess with no regrets. Monique is a lovely woman and Rico is a fantastic chef. My only question is why is this place not packed full?

Monique and team certainly dished up an excellent ‘home cooked’ meal for us today. The Ribs, Greens and Mac and cheese were very well seasoned bringing back memories of the home cooked Sunday afternoon meals at grandma SolieBelle’s growing in South Carolina. We’ll sho nuff make it back to Lawrence for the Fruit Street Kitchen’s delicious and hearty soul food-prolly getting the Shrimp and Grits next time for breakfast and fried chicken and catfish to go as the folks sitting at the table next to us couldn’t stop raving about their food. Yummy!

The moment you step inside, you are greeted by a warm atmosphere and a friendly staff that clearly knows their menu. From classic Southern dishes to robust BBQ flavors, each plate is prepared with care and authenticity.

Their Italian beef sandwich stands out not just for its rich, tender meat, but for the well-chosen bread that holds every flavorful bite together. It’s a testament to the thoughtfulness in their food preparation. Pulled pork and rib tips are among the favorites, boasting generous portions and a depth of smoky, well-balanced barbecue sauce that never overwhelms but enhances every bite. Sides like perfectly seasoned collard greens and sweet, moist cornbread muffins elevate the meal, offering harmony in texture and flavor.

The standout for me was the coleslaw on the pulled pork sandwich, which added a lively crunch and brightness that cut through the richness, giving the dish a beautiful balance. Their attention to detail goes beyond the food — from proactive service bringing to-go cups without being asked to the genuinely helpful recommendations from staff who are proud of their offerings.

For those venturing beyond the BBQ classics, catfish and turkey dressing are cooked to perfection, demonstrating the kitchen’s versatility and dedication to comfort cuisine. The “slaughtered fries” are another unexpected delight—generously topped and irresistibly tasty, making for a perfect lunch or shareable snack.

It’s clear this spot will soon become a local treasure, and based on my visit, it’s a place I’m eager to return to, especially to try their shrimp & grits, another Southern staple promising to capture that same comforting, robust taste that defines the kitchen.
